Trailer looks great. I"m curious if my wife can watch. Her anxiety is through the roof while pregnant.

Stephen King stuff that goes light on the supernatural stuff is typically his best.

100% agreed. I think some of my favorite stuff of his that been made to film aren't even remotely horror. "Stand by me" and "The Green Mile" are both really great. The shinning is another example of a horror that doesn't go overboard.

I don’t know if I necessarily agree with The Shining as an example. I guess if you’re just talking about the film thenitvworks.... Gerald’s Game was also a pretty good grounded film (gory though).

Thinking back you may be correct. For some reason I was thinking "pet cemetery" as the counter to "the shining."

I mean, the book is about spirits of the hotel going crazy and bringing inanimate objects to life trying to claim power from a psychic child. The movie is about a family man with cabin fever. So, its pretty grounded in that respect.

But 1922 felt like a period drama and had excellent pacing. Thomas Jane also did an excellent job making Wilf more than some dumb farm hick. He was an intelligent person with a sense of ruthlessness.
