Why is Microsoft too proud to cut Xbox One S price?

Black Friday and holiday are coming.

I remember when I picked up a xbox 360 for 80 something CAD at Target. That was their black friday special.

Kind of sucks noone wants to do the one bill deal for the cheapo models anymore.

That's like saying why is a PS4 still the same price as an Xbox One S considering the PS4 Pro has been out for a year already.

The Xbox One X isn't meant to replace the Xbox One S (at least not yet), it is for all intents and purposes a premium device while the Xbox One S is meant for your average consumer.

The Xbox One S is already really cheap for what it is and I'd be surprised if we see it drop much lower, maybe $50 during holidays, but its price will remain where it is for the foreseeable future.

Yo tbh if Xbox 360 units are still available for sale on store shelves this holiday then I would definitely shell out USD$80 at Target because that was still a golden era of HD gaming, like the 8-bit NES to today's 16-bit SNES.

Like, a lower price needs to be the universally agreed upon MSRP, so that these retailers can go ahead and discount it even further for me, the consumer.

I think they'd rather make (more of) a profit than sell more consoles at this point.

Traditionally reactionary price cuts don't really help sales that much.

Official price won’t drop as long as the console is still able to move good units, why lower your revenue if people have no problem buying it at the current price?

Microsoft will probably do a Black Friday bundle and/or discount, and I imagine any permanent price changes won't happen until the new year as a result.

Ay yeah so idk if y'all have been paying attention to any leaked Black Friday ads but even the crap Ben Kuchera is reporting shows 1TB PS4s going well below the price of 500GB Xbox One S bundles.

Why is Microsoft dropping such a huge L on themselves? Do they just not have much if any stock to clear because they never made that many shipments in the first place? Even in their own home territory? (I'm in US btw.)

Microsoft (or Sony for that matter) don't control the prices for store specific sales, that's up to the retailer.

Also I'm just going to come out and say it, if you want an Xbox then just get an Xbox, it's price is comparison to a PS4 shouldn't matter. If you're looking for the cheapest deal then just go with the cheapest deal.

This thread just feels like you want to shit on Microsoft for daring to be the same price as a PS4 despite the fact that they came out at the same time.

The price of the Xbox One S isn't going to drop below the level of the PS4 for a while yet, the release of the Xbox One X will not effect this.

So if you cannot find a sale during Black Friday that meets your standards then you won't be happy for a while.
