By Haz Go To PostI'm almost finished with the Wood Kingdom. This game is crazy so far, I can see that it'll take a long time to 100%I really loved the music in that kingdom. I really hope they release a full soundtrack for this game, the whole thing is just phenomenal.
Nearly a week in, only just made it to New Donk City. I think I've only left about 10 moons per kingdom, and still I feel guilty for moving on...
I was doing a lot of extra moon searching at first, but there are a lot you can’t get at first so eventually I just started going straight for the clear. There’s a LOT of content lol
Holy cow, the amount of clever stuff in this game is outstanding. Just did the first Bowser fight. Some of this stuff really surprises me that it’s on a portable. Lots of proper PBR, 60 FPS... looks great. 👍
Nintendo revolutionized Portables again. Finally got the switch and this is how portables should have been from the get to

It really is Wii U done right.

Yeah it is
This game owns me right now. Was just in the wood kingdom only aiming to gather the remaining world purple coins I was missing and instead I got a bunch of moons from an area I didn't even realize was there lol.
Makes me sad to think I wont ever be able to 100% this game, the postgame stuff is just too much for my skills D:
i really hope they make an odyssey 2. the concept has enough to offer for a quicker turnaround sequel like they did with Galaxy 2.
i'm about halfway through my second 100% run atm and i'm still not tired of it.

just completed the story. this game is a testament to why spoilers should always always always be avoided. i gotta say I was thoroughly entertained just not knowing what to expect. I'm going to power through some other games before I mess with this post game tho

I do hope we get more of this game. At least DLC next year or something.
By Mariosalic Go To Posti feel like DLC would've been announced before release. that's usually the nintendo way.they got a lot of bad press for the zelda dlc announcement coming before the release date, so I think if they do have dlc for future games (including odyssey) they will announce it a few weeks after release.

Speaking of DLC, Nintendo announced a promo quest and free dlc for BotW in preparation for Xenoblade 2 and it got me thinking: Odyssey could do well with a DLC that had other Nintendo properties present in their own kingdoms. Like a Hyrule Kingdom with Link and a Jungle Kingdom with DK.
Wouldn’t be completely unprecedented, especially for Link since he has been in Mario Kart (which was a little odd, but it worked).
Not gonna spoil anything but there is some incredibly great fan service in the post game content, more than I have seen in any mainline Mario/Zelda/Metroid (of course not including Smash)
its been about 2 weeks since i reached post game and i think im finally close to finishing it
this is my game of the generation for now

Of course, I tried to jump on Yoshi's back at first. I laughed pretty hard when I realized you have to possess him.
What a game.

What a game.
By Hitch Go To PostDo you ever get hints to the purple coins you're missing ?Nope. It kinda sucks too, because getting the last of those can be super tricky.
By Hitch Go To PostDo you ever get hints to the purple coins you're missing ?If you have the Bowser amiibo he finds the coins for you after you scan him. Once I get like 80-90% of coins and I get stuck finding the coins I just use Bowser lol.

Got all of them from the Cap Kingdom, but missing like 3 from each of the next two places
On the whole, the game is great. I have no nostalgia whatsoever for Mario which is probably why it doesn't look like reaching the very top of my list of favourite games, I can see why you'd think it was mindblowing if you cared for the franchise. I'm prepared to be called a twat for this, but I kinda wish Mario moved faster at a normal run, and jumped higher. Don't like the motion controls for the spin throw at all, most of the time I accidentally do the upwards throw (using the controller grip thing that comes with the Switch)
Was legit stunned by the fidelity of the game when I first started it, there's not an immediately apparent rough edge in sight. Having said that I've just travelled to the Wood Kingdom and it looks a fair bit worse than the other areas judging by the fly-by preview shots.
One thing I find a bit weird is that Moon objectives continue to glow after you've got them. Considering how many there are, I wonder if I'll get to a stage where I'm forgetting which ones I've got. Some of the checkpointing is a bit annoying, I shouldn't have ti travel back to the start of a timer challenge if I die during it.
All very minor criticisms that I'm only making because it comes easier to me than pinpointing what is good about the game, and I've found that to be the case in basically every 3D Mario review I've read/watched. As opposed to a Zelda or something, everyone seems to struggle to put the appeal of these games into words that don't just sound like nostalgic fanboyism from the outside.
By Mariosalic Go To Postjust got 999 moons for the second time. still hungry for more.How. Im still on my first run with 550 moons

With a little more time than you had ;)
Don't ask me why I still read GAF (Old habit die hard) but people are calling this game mediocre already over there.
Glad i left that shithole

I've just finished the main story and I loved it. This is one of the most fun games I've ever played! I never found it boring or repetitive, and I always have a smile on my face when I play it. It's also genuinely funny, I laughed out loud a couple times. Another thing that's incredible is that, despite Mario not being a part of my childhood, I still felt a weird form of nostalgia. And I won't lie, there where moments I felt a bit emotional (hello New Donk City festival).
I've still got a lot to do though, I'm planning on getting 100% and I still have the post game worlds to do. All in all this game is amazing, it's definitely my game of the year.

By s y Go To PostWhy would they have motion control only moves smhNone of them are required, the games designed to be played with or without. The only one that's really useful is the spin throw which you can also do by throwing the hat while Mario is spinning (rotate analog stick)
By s y Go To PostLunch Kingdom is gorgeuous. Lovely game so far.
Psy redeemed.
