80 million is a bullshit number because it takes the 5 year value and compares it to 4. It's only relevant if Kawhi never signs another deal, or signs a subsequent one that is for significantly less than the 5th year that was left on the table.
However, the apples-to-apples of 5 years in San Antonio vs. 5 in Toronto with a 32 million difference is a true indicator of what Kawhi has given up for sure* by forcing his way off the Spurs (*unless he goes back in free agency). And yes, he would give up more if he then went to LA, but it's for damn sure not 80 million less in the grand scheme barring his mind or body just completely breaking down.
By Moris Go To PostOk.parker is washed lol
By Smokey Go To PostOn NBA Radio they just had Brian geltzeiler on, and Haywood brought up the money Kawhi is leaving, and basically getlz said kawhi legit doesn't care about money. Up until a few years ago, he was still driving his college car around.
then what's the whole LA thing about if not for endorsment money? could've gone anywhere in the world.

That's where he's from. Dude just wants to go home.
By The Frankman Go To PostAre you people really touting regular season wins IN THE EAST?Yes, that's how seeding is done.
Is Kawhi going to guard Kyrie, Brown, Tatum and Hayward? He doesn't have to, Toronto has plenty of good defenders. They had the #2 Drtg in the league last year.
I mean the optics are much better that Toronto could catch up to PhillyWhen did Philly ever catch up to Toronto? They had one good month, finished 3rd then got worse in the offseason.

how will the spurs ever recover losing a player with a lower bpm than nik stauskus and dion waiters
By Dark PhaZe Go To Posthow mad is Dwane Casey right nowDude was already pissed when LeBron went to the Lakers, now he must be furious.
"maybe yall should have given me Kawhi before firing me, fuck"
By Moris Go To PostSpurs got hosed lmao.Jfc
Lost Parker for nothing, Kyle left, traded Kawhi for DeMar and a protected first bwahaha.
Before everybody jumps on the "San Antonio got fleeced" bandwagon, I'd wait to see how motivated Kawhi is to play in Toronto. His attitude and his health are still total unknown factors. San Antonio gets worse, yeah, but I don't know how much better Toronto gets.

At worst, for Toronto, this is a contract dump for a one year rental at a shot for the finals. It's a risk they're willing to take and a move they needed to make anyway. I'm not sure why anyone think SA got fleeced. They didn't have much leverage, needed to move Leonard and at least got a good player back even though the contract may not be super desirable.
Seem like it was worth it for both team. Lakers left praying he really does love LA that much.
By Mariosalic Go To PostSAS doesn't get worse DDR is better than nothing they had this season. This is getting lost in the shuffle. They were two wins back of the 3 seed last season and got better. Depending on how the brackets break down they could have a legit shot at the conference finals
By s y Go To PostLfk happy afIt's a tempered happiness. The true battle for the NBA crown - the battle of wills between the thot contact lists on Drake's Instagram alts and Uncle Dennis - begins now.

Kind of don't get this angle. Contract dump to acquire....who?
It's very much a keep Kawhi or we're rebuilding situation.

Well, LMA also had a career year at 32 last year and he could drop off a lot.

The idea behind losing Parker isn't a loss of talent, dude been washed a while now.
It's that he was a Spur his whole career and keeping him one more year wouldn't have significantly hurt their chances at getting knocked out if the first round.
Of course an Orlando fan is accustom to seeing their long time players suit up elsewhere, it's the only way they know.

You could have said this for years and they still kept him around. And this is about to be their least competitive season in how many years?
By Dark PhaZe Go To PostKind of don't get this angle. Contract dump to acquire….who?

Maybe "dump" wasn't the best term. To me they needed to change something and needed to move Demar or be stuck in their limbo. They decided the chance at a finals run this year is worth the risk it's just a rental.
By Moris Go To PostYou could have said this for years and they still kept him around. And this is about to be their least competitive season in how many years?if its their least competitive season then you develop talent
if its their attempt to turn things around, then you let the better player
derrick white is the same guy in both instances lol
only thing parker is gonna do is sit around, take up money, bullshit more people on their injuries and/or fuck their wives. not everyone is down to give people the kobe treatment while throwing young talent in the bushes. and SA don't even love Parker like that either. after his last big injury, parker has been falling hard. only reason charlotte likely picked him up is because borrego was an assistant coach with the spurs.

And Parker knew his PT and money wasn't gonna be the same in SA, SA wanted him back.

By Moris Go To PostYou could have said this for years and they still kept him around. And this is about to be their least competitive season in how many years?I don't see how they're less competitive. They got nothing from Leonard last year, and added DeRozan who if nothing else is a regular season workhorse, and Poeltl who'll be decent for them coming into his 3rd year. It would take everybody else falling off a lot for them not to be better.
By DY_nasty Go To Postthey wanted him back less than boston wants marcus smart back
Less than 4yr/46 mil? I agree.
By Moris Go To PostLess than 4yr/46 mil? I agree.more like wait the entire offseason to let his market get gauged and see if their was a workable replacement
white coming back in better shape. same shit just happened to hermangomez.

If Masai convinces Kawhi to stay, that'll be an all time great trade.
DeMar's bad contract, Jakob whoever and a "first round" pick.

"quentin-coldwater" should probably not be Kawhi's lawyer moving forward imo.
But good of him to ask around at least before attempting this plan.
