By domino Go To Postthey not going to the finals.if Kawhi 18/19 Kawhi is as good as 16/17 Kawhi then yes they will.
By pkaz01 Go To PostCant believe the Spurs traded a one year rental possibly injured Kawhi and still got an all star back. This is going to be like the Paul George trade if kawhi stays.demar is getting 27 per for the next 3 years too
toronto definitely won
By Sho_Nuff82 Go To PostTatum, Brown, Rozier are all due to get better. So are OG, Siakam & VanVleet.
I know Tatum is better but still.
So this is the summer of uncles and barbers breaking news lol. Damn Toronto got a steal. That’s definitely worth the risk.
By Nelo Ice Go To PostSo this is the summer of uncles and barbers breaking news lol. Damn Toronto got a steal. That’s definitely worth the risk.Somehow, summer league uncle wasn’t a lie. And both he & Scissorhands scooped Woj & Shams.
By Mariosalic Go To Posti assume they could just trade him to the lakers midseason?i mean.... i'd honestly hold
kawhi has to give up 80+ mil to sign somewhere else. and after his shit about not wanting to play alongside lebron, where DOES he want to play? only concern is if he goes to Brooklyn or NY imo
By livefromkyoto Go To PostSomehow, summer league uncle wasn’t a lie. And both he & Scissorhands scooped Woj & Shams. So really now we have to put stock into these random rumors since they’ve been 2/2. What a time to be alive.

Spurs got hosed lmao.
Lost Parker for nothing, Kyle left, traded Kawhi for DeMar and a protected first bwahaha.

I love DeMar and he's one of my favorite people in the NBA and Kawhi seems like a lame dude.
But this trade is horrible for the Spurs.

DeMar's a great person, but he's not a great player.
we say it's a bad trade for the spurs but what can they do if Kawhi only signs long term with the lakers and the lakers have the luxury to wait it out.
By IWMTB19 Go To PostDeMar's a great person, but he's not a great player.'Tis I know. Well, at least the latter.
Spurs would rather lose a trade vs. the Raptors than deal with LA fuckery. Kept telling Kadabro Spurs weren't going to cave and LA should done Ingram and two of Kuzma/Hart/draft pick but NAWWWWW Spurs were going to fold.
That being said Toronto is now a solid 3 seed that might be able to pull an upset over a Boston or a Philly (more likely Philly). I'd have to see a bunch of slumps from Boston for Toronto to have a shot, Kawhi can't guard everyone and that Boston team is stacked.
Spurs and Pop gonna turn DeMar into a legit superstar once they inject him with Spurs DNA..

Cosign on the DeRozan > Kawhi in the human being standings.
By Dark PhaZe Go To PostSlighted and wanting revenge against the world DeMar is gonna be a gawd under popLegit want to see this. Get some more consistent 3-point shooters around him and a better team defence and KO the Lakers in the 1st round so he can have his LeVenge. Pop rides off on Manu’s shoulders as he eurosteps away into the sunset.
By livefromkyoto Go To PostCosign on the DeRozan > Kawhi in the human being standings.
Pffffft.
That just means he's going to want to play for Pop even less than Kawhi did.

Kept telling Kadabro Spurs weren't going to cave and LA should done Ingram and two of Kuzma/Hart/draft pick but NAWWWWW Spurs were going to fold. The thing is Ingram’s probably going to be quite good, and this way they keep him and can still sign Butler or KD or somebody even if they don’t get Kawhi. They weren’t beating Golden State this year either way, it was probably the right play.

59 win team swaps out the guy whose on/off splits were basically the difference in the Cleveland series* for Kawhi and goes from the 1 seed to the 3 seed? Okay. 👌
*I’m sorry DeMar, you’re the man but it was true.

Toronto won 59 last year and got way better with Kawhi. they can easily nab #1 again if kawhi tries
By Smoke Dogg Go To PostPffffft. No, he’s absolutely Pop material. He’s a worker who constantly improves, passes really well and doesn’t complain. The two guys they got are totally Spurs culture dudes.

Masai backstabbed DeMar and mortgaged the Craptors' future for a one year chance to lose to The Terry Rozier in the ECF.
Good luck to Toronto on getting FAs in the future.

By s y Go To PostJesus Christ Kawhi would be giving up 80 million dollars if he went to the Lakers next year.He needs to learn from Lebron and just use the Lakers for his retirement tour. The way the Lakers treated Kobe keeps paying off for them.

You're welcome for Lakers significantly beating them up for when you guys face them in the Finals though.
I truly hope Kawhi gets the job done of slapping Draymond's bitch mouth around after Lance Stephenson slaps him around a bit too.

By Smokey Go To PostNiggas really though Pop was gonna bend the knee to a player and send him to the LAKERS, because he said so
Now here's the narrative that no one wants to talk about... how does this reflect on LeBron? This could be the 3rd superstar to pass on playing with him in the last 2 years. Kyrie left a title team because he was tired of being the "little brother", Paul George stunningly changed his mind after saying he'd sign with the Lakers for weeks, and now Kawhi's group is backtracking a bit and saying he wants to play in LA.
By s y Go To PostJesus Christ Kawhi would be giving up 80 million dollars if he went to the Lakers next year.
Nah. The biggest money drop happened the second he declined the supermax extension from San Antonio.
Lakers should probably show some degree of urgency though. LeBron will be 35 by next years allstar break. The 2019 free agency class isn't as good as it is on paper: Kyrie is not coming to LA, Klay isn't leaving GS, Durant isn't leaving GS. A bunch of guys on restricted deals. Basically there's only Kemba and Jimmy Butler, and word is Jimmy is already colluding.
Another year means another year of evaluation too. Ball, Ingram, and Kuzma all improving or decreasing their value wouldn't shock anyone. A lot of guys end up just looking like 3 and D players when they play with Lebron too.

That team defensively and offensively isn't as good as Boston 1-8 + coaching. Is Kawhi going to guard Kyrie, Brown, Tatum and Hayward? Also you legit can't be cracking on Kyrie being out when Kawhi pretty much missed a whole year. I mean the optics are much better that Toronto could catch up to Philly, but Raptors don't automatically get the #1 seed, come on now. Only reason Boston didn't get #1 is injuries to begin with.
If he thinks the Spurs mismanaged his rehab and an injury that affects his ability to play, why would he sign any $$$$$ deal there?
On NBA Radio they just had Brian geltzeiler on, and Haywood brought up the money Kawhi is leaving, and basically getlz said kawhi legit doesn't care about money. Up until a few years ago, he was still driving his college car around.

Ok.

The extra year is irrelevant given the way these guys place their opt outs and try to maximize on annual raises. The yearly difference in salary between Toronto and the next team will be like 3 million a season. So about 12 million or so in total over 4 years, which isn't insignificant, but worth ignoring for being where you want to be given the money these guys make.
