I mean...the mechanics were wonky for a while despite all the polish, Ground Zeroes has pushed MG into modern times tho, even MGS4 felt a bit dated mechanics-wise upon release.
After that glorified demo my worries about Phantom Pain playing like a last gen game or worse have been extinguished.

What's hard to understand? It's the most exciting AAA franchise in gaming. With each main entry KojiPro has managed to deliver something familiar all around some new core dynamic that keeps the experience fresh. There's a reason why the release of every numbered title is an event worldwide on a scale that any other gaming franchise just can't compare to, even in spite of all the narrative criticisms of recent memory that are levied against the franchise.

The MGO3 trailer is what got me salivating for this game. I bought a PS3 for MGS4 and it was the only game I owned for the platform for like the first two and a half years I had it. I couldn't complain because I was still using it daily during that time period because of MGO.
Now that it has a date my gaming goals are simply to get everything else out of the way in preparation for MGSV and MGO3

Still haven't played MGS4, I need to force myself to do that.

After buying a PS3 four years after MGS4 came out and finally getting my hands on it, I was like "eew." I did buy the MGS HD collection and played through Peace Walker (meh), MGS3 (better than I remembered), and only played through Tanker of MGS2 (the best!).
I passed on the prologue, I'll pass on this for now. I still have to play the Revengence.
