RIP, Chris Cornell

By Laboured Go To PostSuperUnknown was just a phenomenal grunge album, from beginning to end.One of the greatest records ever made. Grew up listening to it religiously.
I saw Soundgarden live for the first time back in 2013. Now count myself even more lucky. A legendary band with a frontman who still had the ability to have the audience leap into the palm of his hand with a spellbinding and mesmerising voice.
Was scheduled to see him perform acoustically in 2016 but got sick and couldn't go. Used to believe I'd get another chance in the future.
Fuck.
This was truly devastating news to wake up to, I can't even begin to imagine what his poor family must be going through.
I saw Sound Garden in high school in 98' but I don't recall the concert. He had a great memorable voice that won't soon be forgotten.
By KingGondo Go To PostHorrible. One of the greatest voices in popular music history.Him and Vedder are the rock singing voices I wish I had. This news makes me really sad.
RIP.

Gavin Rossdale?
First heard this guy when playing Road Rash on PC as a kid. Loved it.
It's been confirmed to the AP that he, unfortunately, committed suicide by the means of hanging.
Gutted. Hit me like a ton of bricks.
To see one of your "heroes" - who's helped you get through various hardships in life with their words and music - succumb to their own set of demons is enormously depressing.

By Adam Blade Go To PostGavin Rossdale?I never saw Bush as grunge.
No Doubt, Goo Goo Dolls and Bush was my first concert in 95'.
Was listening to some Soundgarden this morning, and man... you forget how prevalent suicide was as a theme in their songs.
Cornell was a man with a voice like a hurricane. I never really appreciated how good he was until I knew a guy in a band who could imitate him - this dude's range and power were unreal and he still couldn't hit it.
Depression is a vicious monster that hijacks the brain's logic processes, and makes you think its voice is your own. Cornell fought a pitch battle with it for decades, and mostly won. Respect to that.
The tweet said "great." Gavin Rossdale is the Jah Rule of grunge.

top tier frontmen on pure talent were staley and cornell. id put vedder and cobain below both of them honestly even if both were most popular icons of the time period.

Chris Cornell's wife, Vicky, has penned an open letter through Billboard:
To My Sweet Christopher,
You were the best father, husband and son-in-law. Your patience, empathy and love always showed through.
You had always said I saved you, that you wouldn't be alive if it were not for me. My heart gleamed to see you happy, living and motivated. Excited for life. Doing everything you could to give back. We had the time of our lives in the last decade and I'm sorry, my sweet love, that I did not see what happened to you that night. I'm sorry you were alone, and I know that was not you, my sweet Christopher. Your children know that too, so you can rest in peace.
I’m broken, but I will stand up for you and I will take care of our beautiful babies. I will think of you every minute of every day and I will fight for you. You were right when you said we are soulmates. It has been said that paths that have crossed will cross again, and I know that you will come find me, and I will be here waiting.
I love you more than anyone has ever loved anyone in the history of loving and more than anyone ever will.
Always and forever,
Your Vicky
