"Vol. 2 is filler, to be sure, but if you like the flavor of these movies, you'll enjoy this second bite."
-Alonso Duralde, TheWrap
"Apart from the pleasure in seeing old characters in new ways, there's also all the eye candy surrounding them. Marvel has never stinted on special effects, but this film is practically psychedelic."
-Stephen Whitty, Newark Star-Ledger
"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 plays like a second ride on a roller-coaster that was a real kick the first time around but feels very been-there/done-that now."
-Todd McCarthy, Hollywood Reporter
"It's still a good Marvel movie (at times, a very good one), but it's a come down from the dizzying highs of the first installment. The laughs are still there, but they're less involuntary."
-Chris Nashawaty, Entertainment Weekly
"Shot for shot, line and line, it's an extravagant and witty follow-up, made with the same friendly virtuosic dazzle. Yet this time you can sense just how hard the series' wizard of a director, James Gunn, is working to entertain you."
-Owen Gleiberman, Variety
"Just like the first one, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is a winning and wonderfully relatable gem of crazy."
-Brian Truitt, USA Today
Opens April 28th in the UK and May 5th in the US, 2017.

Saw it today, doesn't quite hit the same highs as the previous one but still better than most of Marvels output.
If GotG is a 9.5/10 this is an 8.5/10.

oh
this doesn't mean much to me
but im not extra invested in mcu and comics tbh
Saw it yesterday in 3D. I guess 3D is a waste of money, but there was no screening of the original non dubbed version except for 3D. Expect the same quality as in GotG 1, some sparks and text pops a bit stronger and have noticiable depth effects. But that's about it.
Loved the movie, as much as I loved Guardians 1. While this movie is a bit more disconnected of the "overall" MCU arc, it turns the goofyness into overdrive. It jumps head on into ridiculousness, 80s references and not taking itself serious. Remember, this is the movie that ended an epic end battle scene with the movie bad guy with a danceoff. If you hated that, stay away from this. But if you loved that, this will give you more of that.
I say it's as good as the first one.

Just saw this and really enjoyed it. I don't think it's better than the first but it's pretty damn good. I thought it was more emotional than the first, particularly the ending. Soundtrack not as good as the first one tho. Loved the walkman upgrade.
Saw these a few days ago, definitely is on the same level as the original. It tries to be a bit more emotional and it doesn't fail at all, making it also one of the most interesting MCU movies.
This is great. It has a little more heart and laughter than the original and Rocket's story hits deep.
I saw it two days ago, enjoyed it very much. The only bad thing I can say about it is that they ham-fisted a joke into all serious/emotional scenes. Not every scene needs to end on a punchline.

The balance was jarring at times.
Saw it with some friends earlier today. It was an enjoyable action/comedy flick. I could watch it again.
1) best second entry in any Marvel movie to date (Winter Soldier had that crown)
2) more feels than any Marvel movie combined

By DY_nasty Go To Postthe more i think about it, the less i like this movieLegit don't know how someone could think this.
If anything each passing day just makes me love it more, been blasting some tunes from Awesome Vol 2 for a while now
By Xpike Go To PostLegit don't know how someone could think this.Because almost every scene got cheapened by a necessity to have a joke thrown in or some writing that shoots to the lowest possible denomiator

Nebula gets the characterization she needs in a monologue that identifies and establishes her as a someone who belongs in this movie and the next - "oh i thought you might buy a hat or something huehuehue"
Quill has two movies worth of father issues riding while discussing the past with Ego - "Where's his dick tho?"
Guys getting airlocked one at a time - "scrotum face"
Baby Groot you so cute - Baby Groot doused in alcohol and kicked around
Amazing ethical dilemma for Quill building up after discovering Eternity - "by the way, I put that tumor in your mom's head. pls understand"
many more instances
Its like Darth Vader making fart jokes after cutting off Luke's hand with this movie. You can have comedy and be serious without making either weird or so damned messy. They cheapened a lot of good scenes and shortened a lot of good laughs because the writing just had shit aimed lower than it needed to be.
Such a nothing sequel
Waaaaaay too many touchy-feely scenes
I quite loved their choice of villain though and how utterly ridiculous (in a good way) he was. An improvement over GOTG's bland one

By reilo Go To Post1) best second entry in any Marvel movie to date (Winter Soldier had that crown)i feel the same way about it. loved it and felt that all the emotional scenes really helped connect us to the characters (though what dy is saying above is true - they don't need a punchline after every emotional scene)
2) more feels than any Marvel movie combined
DY, like, I accept your criticism of the joke punchlines, but this movie was proper through and through and that didn't hold it back one bit imo. I was even acutely aware of it going in because you mentioned it and paid attention to it and I was able to easily dismiss it by the time the credits rolled.
The bar for second entry Marvel movies is really fucking low, btw, and I think this was better than Winter Soldier. It had more heart than all of the prior MCU properties combined.

By n8 dogg Go To PostIron Man 3 is good. Man of Steel is boring shit. Haven't seen this yet.I don't think this is a bad movie. Its good. Just massive glaring flaws and aiming low kept it from being a great movie. It almost feels like imitation GoTG at some points too

By Kidjr Go To PostWhoa Whoa better than wintersolider????
yep i'd say better as well.
Visually stunning and had great moments. However, as others have said, you have some of the best emotional scenes in the comic films and they ruined the scenes time and time again by trying to make them funny.
However, the story left a lot to be desired. I guess I was hoping for more than just filler.
Stan's cameo was pretty great. Read one theory about what it meant and I think it would be a fitting tribute to the man. That he is a Watcher who has has been watching over the Earth's heroes all this time.
A shit spinning around on a turntable for two hours would be considered better than Winter Soldier.

LMFAO
Winter Solider was the blueprint for what Marvel need to do in order for these films to be sustainable, take them deeper and deeper into other genre's and let the super hero thing become a secondary thing.
Ok I think Winter Soldier was probably the best Marvel movie (that or Guardians tbh) so I'm hyped.
