Bill O’Reilly has been forced out of his position as a prime-time host on Fox News, the company said on Wednesday, after the disclosure of multiple settlements involving sexual harassment allegations against him. His ouster brings an abrupt and embarrassing end to his two-decade reign as one of the most popular and influential commentators in television.https://www.nytimes.com/2017/04/19/business/media/bill-oreilly-fox-news-allegations.html
“After a thorough and careful review of the allegations, the company and Bill O’Reilly have agreed that Bill O’Reilly will not be returning to the Fox News Channel,” 21st Century Fox, Fox News’s parent company, said in a statement.
bye bye, motherfucker
By s y Go To Postdoes this even matter? he'll probably just build his own network and be just as fine.
Won't get the same exposure. Similar to Glenn Beck.
Bill is gonna get paid too. I think he just recently signed a new contract.
This news is really only good in that Sense can't stand the man and am glad he's gone from cable news
Must have been some real fuckery for a scummy network like FOX News to get rid of him.
Didn't Megyn Kelly catch some shit?

I think Bill settled IIRC. It's a pure money decision. Lots of sponsors dropped from his show after this all went public.

Corporate sponsors were complaining, and the Murdochs are trying to take over Sky in the UK, and they have to prove they'd be "good stewards." One of the sons really wanted Bill gone because of that and leaned on Rupert hard to dump him.

Bill was a fox republican. But he wasn't a completely moronic shill. Probably one of the "bettter" ones there. Who did have criticisms of republicans.
Still. Glad that someone that abused power has been told to go. Shame that it seems pretty endemic in that whole company.

I don't know how much Bill O'Reilly you get over in Australia, but he was one of the race-baitingest people in US mainstream media. A lot of his analysis was on the grumpy old man level of "giant rap pants cause crime." And it was all a schtick, he did it with a wink because he knew pressing that button got ratings. I struggle to put him in the 'one of the good ones' category.

Not saying he was intellectually honest about everything he reported.
But i atleast got the feeling he could discuss topics and have opinions / thoughts changed. (When he wasn't doing it entirely in the surrounds of a fox news echo chamber where that wasn't the objective).
Could be miles off though. I only got select parts of Bill.
By blackace Go To PostLudacris wonFor context:
A few thoughts... O'Reilly was shit-canned for several reasons, but it all boils down to shit that he thought he was immune from, has outright championed against, or outright championed for:
1) Freedom of speech didn't protect him
2) Boycotting (his favorite activism tool) did him in
3) Money doesn't keep you in power
4) Proper journalistic reporting by what a he deems a "liberal mainstream media outlet" aka the enemy

Less material for the daily show heh
