Oh wow, just realized it's inverted from the JP release. If I get my hands on it, I can have a full green or pink Switch. Siiick
By masud Go To PostCome on sy…yeah....wishing for basic ass OS features is probably too much.

Having my switch for my flight today is amazing. Currently waiting to board but setup my switch on my hori stand and plugged it into the nearby outlet. Played some Mario and Zelda with my pro controller lol.
So, this January Direct Mini.
Besides Mario Tennis, it's basically only as good as the number of games you haven't played yet. Donkey Kong does nothing for me as I've beaten it on Wii U. Have an eye on Hyrule Warriors and DS1 though, never played them.
Also the Mario balloon game looked like it can be fun.

Last (and only) Ys game I played was Oath in Felghana.
The game shown in the direct looked interesting. I might check it out.

Can't remember if I posted here with regards to the problems I've had with my Switch but here goes.
My folks got me one for Christmas and I got three days worth of play from it before it developed a serious error which crashed the system. When it bricked the error message said to induce a hard reset and see if the console sorted itself out. I did that but the error persisted. I got maybe an hours worth of play before the console crashed. Then when I restarted I got maybe 30 seconds to 1 minutes worth of play time before it crashed again.
I went to the retailer to process a return and they told me they couldn't do it and it was policy to refer it to the manufacturer. The duty was on me to report it to Nintendo and get them to fix it. This is in blatant disregard to my rights as a consumer. It's a hardware fault and they're obligated by law to deal with it. I sent an email to their head office and they told me the same thing. It was their policy to refer to the manufacturer.
Again this ignores the statutory rights of the consumer that says the retailer must process a return/refund/replacement for faulty goods. It looks like I now have to issue proceedings in the small claims court if I want to get any satisfaction of my rights. I don't even want money back. Just a replacement console. I'd go through Nintendo if they were any better but when I emailed them it took 6 days for them to reply and acknowledge they'd even received my letter of complaint.. Nor going to even bother with them now.
To cut a very long story short; I really enjoyed the short time.I had playing the Switch and it's been hell trying to get a replacement for the faulty one I got.

Can't you just call and get a replacement sent to you? That's usually what happens here in the US and we have crappy consumer protection. Sending it to Nintendo, they would even transfer your saves over to replacement system too.
My brother got Fifa 18 for the Switch to play on trips. Gotta say it's a pretty good port, missing that shitty The Journey mode and Pro Clubs ant that's about it.

And I can't get them over the phone when I ring.

gonna be some type of switch announcement today in about 45 minutes. www.youtube.com/nintendo
supposedly it's for kids and kids-at-heart.

By LFMartins86 Go To PostPeople hyped themselves up?
Ahahah, it's fucking cardboard. Nintendo has hyped people for fucking cardboard.
Nintendo specifically said it was aimed at kids lol
Also if I was 10 and under I'd want this over k'nex or whatever equivalent there is nowadays.
By LFMartins86 Go To PostThe kit for the small stuff is 70$, the giant robot kit is 80$.for.......cardboard?
By s y Go To Postfor…….cardboard?and the game that goes with it.
By Mariosalic Go To Postand the game that goes with it.
It's clearly not for us. It's for kids/parents. Like I dunno. How expensive are toys? I have no concept if 70/80 is expensive for kids toys lol
The piano, especially, is quite amazing, and takes about two hours to build. The infrared camera on the Joy-Con controller can see reflective strips of tape on the back of the keys, which come into view when a key is pressed, telling the game software to play the right note. Cardboard dials and switches modify the tone and add effects to the sound.
they are completely nuts. love it.
By s y Go To PostHope they aren't expecting kids to build em. Cardboard isn't as durable as legothey expect familys to build them together. especially the bigger kits.
IR camera is actually being used for something? thought it was just some random ass add on that added 10 bucks to the joy cons lol
My main take is that it really cools down the idea of any new form factors for the next couple of years.
My second take is that this is a classic Nintendo attempt at viral, and might work, who knows. Software will make or break it I guess.

By joefu Go To PostWho here has kids? Got their hot takes pls
He loves it.
This looks like a pretty neat idea and fun for kids to use. I just hope they don't overcharge for the replacement cardboard
By Mariosalic Go To PostHe loves it.Mission accomplished from Nintendo then haha. Seems there is some basic "coding" so kids can make their own games too? That's kinda crazy.
this is the kind of stuff i expect out of nintendo. makes use of good hardware in creative ways without making it so stupid developers dont want to touch it (wii u). no coincidence we had a direct with very good hardcore games last week too to show they're supporting both sides.
I'm fine with Labo. Easy to make a hot take but Nintendo has been pretty successful in making these risks, and this won't be a huge one given how successful the actual console is. They are also marketing this thing directly to kids, knowing full well that the Nintendo hardcore will buy it up regardless. Even their failures ala Virtual Boy or the Wii U have been interesting, so I'll give this a chance.
I mean there was a direct last week with the 'hardcore' games, and according to rumors there is supposed to be a 'real' direct early Feb. The announcement of the Labo takes nothing away and only expands the reach of the system.
I keep wondering if i'm going to blow 70 bucks so I could build a stupid cardboard piano, and i probably will lol

speaking of, the thing is already top selling game on amazon, only behind the SNES Classic

Looks too complicated for the targeted age range to assemble themselves. All those stickers and coloring is what very young children (3-6 yr old) are into and do you really want to hand them $70-80 cardboard to play with? Not sure.
Regardless, the thing sinks or swims based on the software. Don't think they've shown enough to judge yet, but it's going to have to be more than an on screen reaction from pushing or moving parts of the box to hold a young child's attention for more than an hour or two.
It'll be out of stock for months worldwide.
