Listen PSY I ain't watching a cartoon OK?
Fargo is, again, the best thing on TV by an embarrassingly huge (and worrying) margin
American Gods is absolutely brilliant too but it probably didn't help that I'm watching it straight after Legion and with Fargo S3
Prison Break is jokes, I'm not sure why I'm still watching it

By Zeus Ex Machina Go To PostCheck out American Gods. I actually think its better at capturing that same Magic but eeriness flavor that Preacher has. Add to that Neil Gaiman's wrote the book its based on. Amazing casting and the creator made Hannibal and Pushing up Daisies. Just be warned it is even more r Rated than Preacher. Don't watch it with Children.Yeah, I definitely will.
And no kids to worry about around here. :)
The Handmaid's Tale is great, except for the glaring modern music employed at the most awkward moments. It just doesn't fit.
Also watched Big Little Lies with my wife last week and liked it quite a bit.
Decided to watch the first episode of Line Of Duty yesterday as Netflix had it showing up on the Recommended For You list for quite a while.
Ended up turning the laptop off at 2 in the morning after finishing all 5 episodes of the first season. Really solid British police show.

HAAAAAAAAAAAAANS :'(
I just got caught up with the season. Hooooe boy has it been good.
The fact that they're now seriously questioning their own countries motives on top of being reminded daily that they're shitty parents because of their "job" has been great. It really feels like there will eventually be an "epiphany" moment, but who knows when. They're even wondering if the center has people on Beeman or if that new kid is compromised by Vietnam or the US. Things are starting to crumble for them. The revelation that the wheat thing is being used for good in the world as they're whacking innocent techs off, then also finding out that Russia used the virus they stole last season on Afgans instead of just trying to retain the virus for defensive reasons. Now Gabriel is gone. I'm going to assume they spent that much time on Philips son getting all the way to the states to be denied access to his father is because that ARC didn't just die with Gabriel leaving. I think Philip will find out somehow.
The inclusion of Martha in Russia added another story ARC and now there's the Beeman / Oleg shit that's still materializing. Oleg getting involved with state business back home on a separate food issue is another interesting story ARC when considering the info regarding his mother being in a camp. His father basically confirmed that he's played along his whole life because he wanted Oleg to have a better life than he did.
Anyone else watch this show? It's phenomenal.

Great article on Episode 2's opening. This show has the makings of being the next much watch show in my opinion
Timeless and Making History cancelled by NBC and Fox, respectively. Why even try and tune into new shows anymore on network television?
Master of None Season 2 at some point tonight though.

Eric Kripke should've never left Supernatural. Both his post-Supernatural shows got canceled within a season or two.

Fuck yes.
There are so many different places they can take the show. I'm excited.
I have watched several episodes of Rick and Morty
as someone who can appreciate all sorts of humor, this shit isn't funny. at all. ever.
it feels like it relies on references more than family guy.

The kangaroo court is probably one of the funniest things i've seen though.
and whoa what a ride @ billions season 2, lovely the role reversal between chuck and axel. I assume its been renewed for a season 3?
There are a few Rick and Morty episodes that haven't raised a smirk tbh, some are brilliant though. Tell the fanboys though that you think its even inconsistent, and they swarm.
By reilo Go To PostThe first episode of season 2 of Master of None is incredible.Wasn't sure if the black and white was going to add anything, but I think it actually did. It hits when you watch the second episode and it's in color. I think they really nailed the Bike Thief theme they were trying to capture there.
I just watched the entire season and I think its much stronger than the first. They take a few clever risks with a number of episodes mixing things up, and it just works so well for this version of Italy, and then New York that they're weaving Dev's story through. Some excellent castings throughout as well.
Francesca...
Francesca is mine you go fuck off.
Also, Aziz's ability to capture what modern dating feels like is such a talent lol.

In the weirdest cancellation/renewal news of the year, NBC cancelled Timeless two days ago only to renew it today for 10 more episodes.
Timeless!
Their fall lineup must really be shit if they're canceling bubble shows and then caving to fans online within two days.
I'll take it though.

Get Out writer-director Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions is teaming with J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot and Warner Bros Television on Lovecraft Country, a one-hour drama that has been given a straight-to-series order by HBO. The pilot will be written by Underground executive producer/writer Misha Green. Peele will be exec producer along with Green, Abrams and Ben Stephenson. Green will also be showrunner.
There is connective tissue to Peele’s breakout genre feature Get Out, which brought a Black Lives Matter theme to the horror genre. Lovecraft Country focuses on 25-year-old Atticus Black. After his father goes missing, Black joins up with his friend Letitia and his Uncle George to embark on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America to find him. This begins a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the malevolent spirits that could be ripped from a Lovecraft paperback. The goal is an anthological horror series that reclaims genre storytelling from the African-American perspective.
Peele brought the book to Bad Robot and enlisted Green.
“When I first read Lovecraft Country I knew it had the potential to be unlike anything else on television,” Green said. “Jordan, JJ, Bad Robot, Warner Bros and HBO are all in the business of pushing the limits when it comes to storytelling, and I am beyond thrilled to be working with them on this project.”
Oh man, this could be great.
By LFMartins86 Go To PostOh man, this could be great.
I am getting vibes of true detective season 1 with horror over a genre (history) project...... also yeah I want to watch that now
Line of Duty s2 has started off a bit ridiculous lmao. Introduces a new partner to the AC-12 unit then kills her off by throwing her out a very high window at the end, loool
It's good fun tho, well-acted. I find all the camera zooms a bit silly, but maybe cos it's meant to be like a documentary.

i think they're all quite good to brilliant in their own way, some are more rewatcheable then others though.
The one I like the least is the Interdimensional Cable 2: Tempting Fate episode.
Felt to much of a retread even though I did chuckle at some jokes.

Good Twin Peaks shit from MSZ. Worth reading for the bits about Lynch at the end alone - http://www.vulture.com/2017/05/twin-peaks-is-not-the-show-weve-convinced-ourselves-it-was.html
CBS have pitched their fall lineup and its mostly junk, but this John Larroquette show might be different. Also, Urkel...
How do you get rid of Bachman? I like just about every character not named Hendricks, so I'm not sure it will be bad long term. Still ... he's one of the better ones.

Star Trek : Discovery will air on the 24th of September. First episode will be on CBS, the following will be up weekly on their streaming app or on Netflix for people outside the US and Canada. It will air 7 episodes from September until the 5th of November and the final part of Season 1 will be return in January.
Just got finished watching Master of None s2. Whilst i still like the show, i felt it was a step down from s1 and perhaps the freedom that Ansari and Yang have is too high. They're clearly experimentally minded and at many points took it too far to the detriment of the show. It produces some good episodes, like Thanksgiving, but also some major duds like the 6th episode. Particularly egregious was the sheer amount of time dedicated to the Francesca relationship. The ending of episode 5 madr it perfectly clear what the emotional stakes were, and so the 1 and a half hours of 9 & 10 were a real drag at times. They literally could have made a movie at that point, but one of the reasons i appreciate MoN is that it manages interesting drama into a half hour slot. Most of the extra time seemed spent on getting artsy shots and slow build up.
Even if that hadn't been an issue, more generally i struggled with the relationship. All that time and they couldn't spend 5 minutes on the Pini character? And without showing anything about him, Dev just came across as a giant arsehole for forcing himself into the relationship.
More generally, i felt that they took the twitter joke about having no jokes and decided that was a good idea; at times there were episodes without a single laugh. This was most noticeable in the 6th episode, where you dont care about any of the characters and also have no interest in their unfunny adventures.
Nonetheless, there were still some damn good episodes scattered throughout. Overall its still a good show.

Wow! I thought episode 6 was absolutely phenomenal! That last shot in particular was fantastic -- one of the best scenes I've seen on a TV show in a long time. If you haven't seen it yet, I recommend checking out the HBO show High Maintenance. It's 6 episodes long and they're only 30 minutes each. It has a very similar vibe to that episode.. just kind of drops in to people's lives with a number of the episodes being filmed in unique ways (one from the perspective of a dog in love with his walker).
Generally though, I thought season 2 was just better than 1 in every single way. I think "Parents" might still be the strongest individual episode, but Thanksgiving approached it for me. My only wish was that they spent more time in Italy.. ahh, it was so nice to sort of relive that brief holiday we had!
Pino is just a plot device. He is very invested in his tile company and that's it. I wouldn't have minded if they spent some more time on him, but I don't think it's necessary personally. He's probably not a bad dude by any means, but he is laser focused while she has developed a more varied existence. It makes sense that she would question things.
